Real Training
For Real Dogs.
No Excuses.
The dogs other trainers refuse — giant breeds, aggression cases, the ones who need more than treats and a clicker. Built on service-dog precision. Run with military directness.
An Edmonton Dog Trainer With Service-Dog Precision.
Theta K9 was built on a background of training service dogs for the Royal Canadian Legion — supporting clients with mobility issues, PTSD, and health-related needs. That work demanded a level of precision and accountability most pet training never sees.
Today the focus is pet training, with a specialty in the dogs that scare other trainers off. Extra-large breeds, giant breeds, and dogs with aggression issues. Owners come to this Edmonton dog trainer when they’ve been turned away elsewhere or told their dog is unfixable.
The approach isn’t soft. It isn’t cruel. It’s honest. If the dog’s behavior is rooted in something the owner is doing, you’ll be told. No taboos. No sugar-coating. Just what works.
Six Disciplines. One Edmonton Dog Trainer.
Every program is tailored to the dog and the owner. These are the core disciplines Theta K9 covers as your Edmonton dog trainer — most clients work on a combination of two or three.
Stay / Recall
Reliable stays under distraction. Recall that works when it counts — off-leash, around other dogs, in real-world environments.
Obedience
Sit, down, place, heel, leave it. The foundation everything else gets built on. Practical, repeatable, and proofed against the real world.
On / Off Leash
Loose-leash walking that doesn’t dislocate your shoulder. Off-leash control built incrementally, with safety as the priority.
Puppy Classes
Start it right. Socialization, foundation skills, bite inhibition, and the critical developmental work that prevents problems before they appear.
Hyperactivity
Calm isn’t a personality trait — it’s a learned state. We teach impulse control, settling, and the off-switch most dogs were never given.
Fix Aggression
Reactivity, leash aggression, dog-on-dog and dog-on-human cases. This is the work most trainers refuse. It’s also the work we’re known for.
The Balanced Approach.
We call it positive preference. Reward-based learning leads — most dogs never need anything else. Minimal correction enters only when the situation actually demands it. As a working Edmonton dog trainer, this is the framework behind every session.
Positive First
Reward-based learning is the foundation of every program. Building drive, clarity, and trust before anything heavier is even considered.
Minimal Aversion
For severe behaviors — biting, lunging, aggression — pure positive isn’t enough. Measured corrections, applied with skill, prevent worse outcomes.
Owner Accountability
Most behavior problems start at the other end of the leash. You’ll be told this directly — the only way the dog actually changes.
We Take The Cases Others Refuse.
Reactivity. Leash aggression. Dog-on-dog and dog-on-human cases. This is the work most programs turn away. It’s the work the right Edmonton dog trainer takes head-on — the reason Theta K9 exists, and the work we’re built for.
Honest assessment, measured corrections, real results. We don’t promise miracles. We promise to do the work no one else will.

Sessions are filmed and posted weekly across Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. Real dogs, real owners, real work — the kind of footage that proves what an Edmonton dog trainer with the right method can actually do.
One Call Changes The Dog.
Behavior problems rarely fix themselves. Most get worse. If your dog needs an Edmonton dog trainer who takes real cases seriously, the first conversation is free, the next steps are honest, and the work starts as soon as you’re ready. The International Association of Canine Professionals backs the balanced-training framework we use, and our results back it daily.
